We are a family-run business founded out of necessity and driven by passion.
In 2020, while running our chicken farm, my wife Ria and I (Mark Sayers) faced a common challenge—what to do with the excess eggs we were producing. Not wanting them to go to waste, we began experimenting with preservation methods and stumbled upon dehydration. After countless trials, we developed a unique process to create powdered eggs that not only taste great but also have a long shelf life.
In 2023, we moved back to our hometown of Kempton Park and teamed up with my brother-in-law, Cyril Scrooby, and my sister, Melanie Scrooby. Together, we officially founded MRCM (Mark, Ria, Cyril, Melanie) with a simple mission: to supply South Africans with a reliable, long-lasting alternative to raw eggs.
At MRCM, we may be a small family business, but we have big aspirations. Our goal is to make powdered eggs a household staple, providing convenience without compromising on quality. Currently, our plant produces 20kg of powdered eggs per day, but we are planning for expansion with a much larger facility on the horizon.
What makes us stand out? We are the only company in South Africa, and possibly the world, using a unique drying process that ensures top-tier taste and longevity. Our commitment to sustainability is reflected in our energy-efficient operations; our plant is powered by solar electricity, and we use cutting-edge sand battery technology, allowing us to stay independent from the traditional power utility.
As a family, we each play a crucial role in the business. Cyril and I manage research and development, constantly innovating and improving our process. Ria and Melanie lead our sales and marketing efforts, building strong relationships with customers and ensuring our powdered eggs reach homes across the country.
We believe in open communication with our customers, and we encourage you to reach out to us with any questions or feedback:
Thank you for supporting our journey. Together, we can make powdered eggs a trusted kitchen staple in every South African home.
